Sally Hansen Salon Effects - Frock Star - Part 2 Day 8
I have not written a blog in eight days because I have been fully trying out the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips in the color Frock Star. I never EVER leave polish on my nails this long but since the claim is that it lasts up to 10 days I wanted to give it a really great try. I managed eight days which is amazing for me and honestly it held up really really well! I had some tip wear which was to be expected of any polish on more than a few days but I didn't get any major chips until probably day 6 of the polish strips being on my nails. Even then the chips were in the corner and only my ocd self probably noticed. These actually don't look as worn in person as they do in the pictures but a zoomed in lens captures EVERY flaw. I can definitely say I recommend giving these a try! I think if I wanted I could leave them on 10 days but I have too many other colors that I want to try. I have had to resort to testing on my toes and now they look like a rainbow mess. If you do try these out though I definitely recommend using a good base and top coat.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Frock Star
Today I have for you guys Sally Hansen Salon Effects
in Frock Star that I received to try out from Influenster in their
spring beauty Vox Box. I have always wanted to try these out but was a
little unwilling to spend $10 for a one time use product that only lasts
up to 10 days according to the box. I never even leave polish on my
fingers more than four or five days so really that doesn't really add up
that nicely to me. I do love the wide selection of designs they have
though. I think these would be really great for a special occasion or a
vacation or something like that but not very practical for every day
use.
Frock
Star is a glitter bomb of different shapes, sizes, and colors of
glitters all over a silvery reflective background. At first I thought it
was clear of just very sheer but looking closer it actually kinda looks
like tiny mirrors on your nails with how reflective it is. I really
love how easy it was to apply. You just peel off the backing and line
it up with the top of your nails and work your way down to the tips. It
is definitely better to go a size up because it is so easy to remove the
excess from your cuticles. They say you can stretch the strips out to
fit the size of your nail but I didn't have to much luck with that and
it just ended up tearing. Getting the tips just right is the hardest
part for me. Some of them already look like they have tip wear but I
think if I try it out again it would go better with practice. My two
favorite things about these strips are that they are real polish but
they do not smudge or smear and that you aren't left with messy cuticle
clean up!
I
definitely recommend a good base and top coat to go with this. I have
heard people say that they had problems with chipping and the polish
strips just peeling off fairly quickly. I used Orly Bonder for my base
so they polish strips would stick on even better and topped it off with a
thick layer of Seche Vite. I am going to try to leave these on as long
as possible to see just how long they last.

Fame by Prevail
Don't you just hate it when you find a beautiful bottle of nail polish that is just so great and sparkly looking just to finally get it home and put it on your nail and it is NOTHING like what it looks like in the bottle? I really do! I found this amazing looking color called Fame by a brand I had never heard of before called Prevail but I am always willing to try something new. It looks like such a pretty greyish purple with a pinky purple duochrome and packed with lots of different color glitter like pink, blue, and green.
I finally get it on my nails and it is pretty much the worst color ever. It was a streaky thick nightmare to apply and looked nothing like the pretty glittering bottle it came in. It turned out looking like streaky dark grey house paint on my nails with a nonexistant duochrome. The glitter also ended up so muted on the nail it just has no effect. The camera actually makes this look better than it does in real life because with my eyes it is very hard to pick up the glitter unless I hold it very close to my face.
It also chips very quickly. I had it on my fingers less than 12 hours when the pictures were taken and I had tons of chips and chipwear and this is with three coats and a layer of seche vite.
So sad it had such potential.

Neon Punk Funk Nails
Today I have another design that I found from one of my favorite nail art people on YouTube - soguesswhat11. She is really amazing at coming with new nail designs and I am seriously envious of her stamping abilities. She created a tutorial called Neon Funk that just looks really awesome and perfect for summer especially with the whole neon trend going on right now. I just happened to have all of the items for this tutorial including the stamping plates so I really wanted to give this a try. I did use some different colors of neon but really I think it is just about personal choice or for me just using what I've got to work with.
If you want to see how I did this look definitely check out the video. It is really easy to follow along so please check it out!
What I used
Sally Hansen White On
Sinful Colors: Neon Melon, Fly Away, Summer Peach, and Irish Green.

China Glaze Riveting
Well I had fully intended or updating this blog earlier in the week but I guess that just wasn't to be. When I got home Thursday I found that I had no internet connection. I called the company and they said there was no outage and they couldn't come out to fix it until Saturday (today). That was more than a little annoying. Needless to say all I have been able to do the last few days is work and read a book which I love I just like having my options.
My happy part of the week was this nail polish! Last weekend I went to Sally's and finally picked up some of the Hunger Games collection. Way too late in my opinion I know but I have been soooo busy but better late than never right? I was shocked to find they didn't even have it out on the shelves she had to go to the back and dig them out for me. Riveting was at the very top of my wish list so I definitely had to snatch it up and it went on my nails as soon as I got home.
I love this color so much. My nails looked like they were on fire or lit up from the inside it was just amazing. It is a dark reddish orange that is just so bright and full of what looks like gold and orange flecks of glitter and sparkle it is just hard to look away. The formula was great to work with and it was opaque in two coats. People at work kept asking me what I had on my fingers and literally grabbing my hand to get a closer look. I definitely think this color will be a great year round color because I would wear it in any season really.

Watercolor Nails
Hello Spring!! It finally feels like spring complete with rain, thunderstorms, and the smell of fresh mowed grass. Well today it feels more like summer outside but that's besides the point. I wanted to give my nails a spring makeover and when I saw this tutorial by one of my favorite people on Youtube MissHollyBerries I knew I had found the perfect look. This look probably isn't for everyone as some may think it is messy or too busy but I just love it. I tried to use as similar colors as possible because I think she picked a great combo. I also just changed the application a little but it had the same affect. I had this on my nails pretty much all week and was so sad when it started chipping but I will definitely try this again maybe with a different color palette.
I started off with a base of Sally Hansen White On and used two coats. Then I used the technique in the video except I changed it up a little. Instead of putting drops of polish directly on the nails and then using a brush with acetone I tried something else because I was probably messing it up and was wiping off some of the basecoat. What worked for me was to put some polish on a piece of paper, dip a nail art brush into acetone and then dip it into the polish. Then I just painted it on my nails just putting it in random places. Like I said same effect just done a little differently.
The colors I used are China Glaze Peachy Keen, Julep Helena, and Sinful Colors Grecian Sun

Radio Superstar from Icing
I can't believe it has been a week since I have posted. It has been so crazy lately at work and hopefully that dies down a little soon. To be honest though I wore this manicure most of last week. Not just because I loved the glitter and kept having the "ooh shiny things" moment when I saw my fingers typing away but because I really enjoyed this polish. Yes painful glitter removal and lack of sleep was another but I really did enjoy this.
The polish is called Radio Superstar and it can be purchased at Icings in the mall. Their polish is usually always buy one get one 50% off so I can never resist picking up at least two every trip to the mall. Radio Superstar is made up of metallic blue micro glitter, larger flakes of magenta glitter, and silver foil stars that can lean towards holographic all in a clear base. The stars is really what pulled me towards this but it was a pain getting them out of the bottle. I had to keep re-dipping just to be able to get one star on each nail. Despite the effort this was a lot of fun! And honestly right now I don't recall what shade of blue I put this over but I think it could work over so many colors!
I do apologize for the picture the shiny glitter was so hard for my camera to pick up but trust me it looks great in person.
