Julep Glam Roc

Today I have Jule's Glam Roc which is part of the February Julep Maven box subscription box. I had a really hard time narrowing down what colors I wanted this month so I ended up picking a box and then adding on two polishes. This month I went with the Bombshell box and added on the two Stardust Finish polishes: Cameron and Glam Roc. Stardust Finish is Julep's version of texture polish similar to Zoya Pixies and OPI Liquid Sands.

Glam Roc is a royal purple texture with tons of glitter and shine. It's almost a little Mardi Gras-ish with it's green, gold and pink micro glitter. The formula on this was super thick but still very easy to work with. That thickness made it almost a one coater! I did need two coats though to get it full opaque. If you have Zoya Chita I would say the formula is most like that one where it is just super thick but so perfect. I wish it was sunny here so I could properly show just how much shimmer this has in the light. I am going to attach a short video clip showing just how much sparkle this gives out. I am really impressed with my first Julep texture and hope the other one is just as great as this.

Julep is a monthly polish subscription that you can get for $19.99 a month. Most boxes have two polishes and some kind of product in makeup or beauty. They also have all polishes boxes and all product boxes. You can get your first month for free and just pay shipping with the code FREEBOX. If you are interested in finding out more about Julep or signing up I will post my referral link below.

Julep Winter

Julep Winter was a little bit of a mixed bag for me. I really do love the color and the end result but getting there was a challenge. Winter started off watery and runny and in the first coat flooded the cuticles on most of my nails even though I was being super careful. Winter was also pretty streaky and patchy on the first coat. On the second coat I noticed that as I moved from nail to nail the polish was thickening and actually becoming gloppy on the nail. I actually saw the polish becoming stringy at the opening when I was brushing excess polish back into the bottle. Overall, the formula of Winter is a total fail. I'm afraid of what will happen next time I reach for it because by then it could be the consistency of tar.

That being said though I do love the color of this polish. Winter is a medium cool toned grey that reminds me a little of sidewalks. Grey is one of the colors I seem to be lacking a good variety of in my collection so I will definitely be using it again. Let's just hope thinner is not required!

Day 2 - Candy Canes

When I was little, well even now, my favorite type of candy cane were the blue raspberry ones. There is just something about a candy that turns your mouth bright blue so you can then turn to people and stick your tongue out at them while asking if it is blue :) So for candy canes I knew I wanted to do blue ones but then I started thinking about the multi-colored packs ant thought that would be really fun so for today's theme I have four different flavors/color combinations of candy canes. For all of the nails I used stamping using Cheeky plate CH11.

Polishes Used:
Blue Raspberry: Revlon Coastal Surf for base & Julep Eloise stamped
Grape: Sally Hansen Good to Grape base & Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Lively Lilac stamped
Peppermint: OPI Thanks So Muchness base & Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Whirlwind White stamped
Cinnamon: Wet n Wild Candy-licious base & Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red stamped
